Short version: camera off until you opt in; video never leaves your device; keys stay in the browser; only text you choose to explain may go to an LLM you configure.
This website (uxvx.curiosta.com)
- Camera. Off by default. It turns on only after you give explicit consent on the demo page and press Start. It stops when you press Stop or leave the page. Frames are processed in memory in your browser (via WebGazer) to estimate gaze. No video, images, face landmarks, or calibration data are uploaded to Curiosta servers — we don’t run a backend that receives them.
- WebGazer library. The gaze library is served from this site (
/js/vendor/webgazer.min.js), not a third-party script CDN. On first start, WebGazer may still download face-mesh model weights from its usual CDN / TensorFlow Hub hosts. That is model data, not your camera feed. - Text to an LLM. If you use “Explain simply” with a configured provider, only the selected or flagged paragraph text (capped at 4,000 characters) is sent to the endpoint you entered. With the built-in mock provider, nothing leaves the browser.
- API keys and settings. Stored only in
localStorageon this device. Cleared when you clear site data. Never synced by us. - No analytics product. This PoC does not include a third-party analytics suite. Your browser and host (GitHub Pages) may keep ordinary web-server logs (IP, user-agent) outside our control.
Chrome extension (private beta)
The companion extension at github.com/curiosta/uxvx follows the same model: opt-in camera, on-device gaze, keys in chrome.storage.local, text-only LLM calls. See that repo’s PRIVACY.md for extension-specific details (per-site camera prompts, MAIN-world injection limits).
What we don’t do
